Six Universities Win ELSEVIER Research Impact Leaders Award

Six universities have walked away with winning gongs at this year’s ELSEVIER Research Impact Leaders Award.

Given to universities whose research makes the greatest contribution to the visibility of Polish science in the world, the award went to the University of Warsaw, Jagiellonian University, Lublin University of Technology, Łódź University of Technology, SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Warsaw University of Life Sciences.

The jury took into account the increase in the number of publications in the most prestigious scientific journals, publications with the participation of foreign co-authors and the citation index in a given discipline.

The award covers six broad disciplines (according to OECD classification): Natural sciences, Engineering and technology, Medical and health sciences, Agricultural science, Social sciences and Humanities. 

The winner in the Agricultural sciences category was the 

Łódź University of Technology took the prize in the Agricultural Sciences category with Jagiellonian University winning the Medical and health sciences category and SWPS university of Social Sciences taking top gong in the Humanities category. 

The University of Warsaw proved to be the best in the Natural sciences category while Lublin University of Technology won in the field of Engineering and technology.

The Warsaw University of Life Sciences won in the Social sciences category.

Awarded for the first time in 2016, the ELSEVIER Research Impact Leaders Award is part of the Elsevier global initiative to support research and the development of science.

The awards were presented in Warsaw during the fourth conference in the series "Polish universities in a global perspective - Rankings and strategic management of a university". The conference was organized by the Education Foundation "Perspektywy" as part of the "International Visibility Project" programme run jointly with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland.

Elsevier is a global analytics company and created such scientific platforms as Scopus and SciVal.
