Gdynia Maritime University cooperating with a global shipping leader

Hiring graduates and internships for students of Gdynia Maritime University are some of the highlights of the cooperation agreement signed by the university and MOL (Europe) BV, one of the world\'s largest shipping companies. The company will open its Gdańsk office in the autumn.

Gdansk Mol (Europe) BV plans to open shared service centre (which will handle cargo, accounting and equipment management in Europe) in the fall, and employ approximately 60 people.

Cooperation agreement between Gdynia Maritime Academy and MOL (Europe) BV was signed on board the "Dar Młodzieży" in Gdynia.

Rector of the Gdynia Maritime University, Prof. Piotr Jędrzejowicz has no doubt that "the cooperation with the company creates new career opportunities for students". He announced that over the next 2-3 years the Gdansk office of the company will employ approximately 60 graduates of the university. Specialists in the field of logistics will handle the company\'s handling container traffic. "It\'s a big opportunity for the students, because it is a company with a world reputation, offering excellent conditions of employment and development" - he added. The company will also offer internships for 10 students per year, one-third of logistics majors. He noted that in the framework of the cooperation, the university will consult study programs with the company.

Executive Director of MOL (Europe) BV, Jochen Veldmann told PAP that the company chose Tri-City as the seat of his office and teamed up with the university primarily because of the availability of experienced professionals in the field of logistics and sea freight. "We found here well-prepared employees, perfect for our company" - he emphasised.

MOL (Europe) BV is the European branch of the Japanese shipping company Mitsui OSK Lines, offering logistics solutions including road, rail, sea and air transport, as well as storage and distribution. It owns and operates a fleet of about 958 ships, including container ships, car carriers, gas carriers, oil tankers and passenger ships, and more. The group consists of more than 400 companies employing a total of nearly 10 thousand people around the world.

Gdynia Maritime University is the largest maritime university in Poland and one of the largest in Europe. 8 thousand students study at four faculties: Marine Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Navigation, Entrepreneurship and Quality Science. (PAP)
