Students from Rzeszów learn Chinese for free in China

Nine students of English Studies with specialization in translation of Chinese language at the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów began learning Chinese language for free in China, within the framework of cooperation between universities. The course will continues for half a year.
Rzeszów university students who went to China are Polish and Ukrainian nationals. They participate in an intensive Chinese language course for foreigners, together with students from other countries in Europe and Asia. The course is taught in a partner university, Anshan Normal University, Liaoning Province, in north-eastern China, in the professional Chinese Language Teaching Center for Foreigners. The course is free of charge; and it will continue for half a year, until the end of the winter semester.
"It is 70 hours per week, a total of about 1.4 thousand hours of study. Classes are taught by professionals qualified in teaching Chinese language to foreigners" - noted the spokesperson of the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów Urszula Pasieczna.
The trip to China - for a semester or a whole year - of students of English Philology with specialization in translation of Chinese language at the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów is possible thanks to the free exchange between Rzeszów university and one of the partner universities in China.
Students do not bear the costs of accommodation and sustenance. Another advantage of their stay in China will be learning about the country, its culture and history.
Participation in the course will be confirmed by a diploma. Participants can also additionally obtain a Chinese state language certificate confirming the command of language at a certain level.
Pasieczna explained that the exchange between universities is the result of the activities of Michał Boym Consortium for the promotion of Polish universities in China, bringing together five Polish public and private universities. The University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów School of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów has been a member of the consortium for several years.
According to the spokeswoman of the university in Rzeszów, this is probably the first time Polish students travel to China as part of the exchange.
In addition to the course in China, students of Chinese language translation at Rzeszów university since the beginning of studies also have lessons with a teacher from China. This course covers the skills of speaking, reading, calligraphy and introduction to the Chinese culture.
Vice-Rector for International Relations at the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów Prof. Andrzej Szelc emphasised that Rzeszów university cooperates with several Chinese universities. Therefore, students can receive education not only in Anshan Normal University, but also in other partner universities in China.
In the framework of cooperation between universities, in the last academic year several students from China came to Rzeszów to study in the University of Information Technology and Management.
