Professor Ayala receives honorary doctor's degree

<p>Outstanding biologist <strong>Professor Francisco J. Ayala</strong> received the honorary doctor&#39;s degree of Warsaw University.</p>

The title was handed over to Ayala, called also the "Renaissance man of the evolutionary biology," as part of ceremonies marking the Darwin Year held by Warsaw university.

Professor Zbigniew Gliwicz underlined that Professor Ayala was great geneticist, thinker, authors of work on evolution theory and its influence on science and religious beliefs.

Francisco Jose Ayala, born in Madrid, Spain, in 1934 is a biology and philosophy professor at the University of California in Irvine.

He authored more than 950 scientific articles and 30 books.

Ayala was honoured with honorary doctor's degrees of universities in Athens, Bolonia, Barcelona, Madrid and Brno.

While in Poland he will deliver lectures on evolutionism in Cracow, Wroclaw and Gdansk. KM
